Control Volatility In Angel Or Devil

The feature in Angel or Devil that lets you set the volatility is the slider. There are five settings for the slider. The conservative settings are labelled more wins and the volatile settings are labelled bigger wins. The slider controls the wild symbols and thus the volatility. The angel wild symbol favors low volatility. It appears only on reels 1, 2 and 3. The devil wild symbol favors high volatility. It appears only on reels 3, 4 and 5. The number of angel or devil wild symbols on each reel is determined by the slider setting.

The central setting of the slider provides two angels on reel 1, two angels on reel 2, an angel and a devil on reel 3, two devils on reel 4 and two devils on reel 5. This is the number of symbols on the entire reel and not the number of symbols that will be displayed when the reels stop. At this point the slot game has a medium level of volatility. To reduce the volatility to the minimum, the slider is shifted to the extreme left on the screen. There are now four angels on reel 1, four angels on reel 2, two angels on reel 3 and no wild symbols on reels 4 and 5. This reduces the chance bigger payouts with four or five symbols, but increases the chances of smaller payouts with fewer symbols.

To increase the volatility to the maximum, the slider is shifted to the extreme right on the screen. There are now four devils on reel 5, four devils on reel 4, two devils on reel 3 and no wild symbols on reels 2 and 1. Because the wild symbols do not appear on the earlier reels, winning combinations will occur less frequently. But when winning combinations appear they will usually be with four or five symbols and therefore they will pay big. Since the devil wild symbol doubles payouts, the winnings will be even bigger.
