Image The lottery is a popular activity across the United Kingdom and many people have seen their life change forever by collecting the massive prizes they offer. If you are British and enjoy playing the lottery, there are some big developments that you should get informed about. A big announcement by the United Kingdom's National Lottery operator is causing turmoil throughout the country as this week news broke that the price of lottery tickets will double from £1 to £2 as of October throughout the entire territory. The lottery operator, Camelot, explained that this move was an attempt to increase the size of prize pools for players and to make the activity more exciting. They are attempting to attract more buyers with larger prize pools, and consider the prize is still low enough so that everyone who would like to play can afford it. It was also explained by the company that the increase in price will also contribute to a boost to the smaller rewards the lottery offers. For example, £10 prizes will now pay £25 for three matching numbers. The average lottery prizes are also expected to highly increase from £3.9 million to £5 million on weekend draws, and mid week draws will grow from £2.1 million to £2.5 million. However, the move was not warmly welcomed by UK punters, who decided to publically state they would no longer be playing on the National Lottery's Facebook page. They have also expressed that the increase in prize money does not fully justify the doubling of the price for the tickets, and they thoroughly disagree with the new policy. UK lottery prices have remained steady for many years and they have become an enjoyable activity for a broad sector of the population. The attempt to change the dynamics of the lottery system do not seem to be welcomed by lottery players, but it is still too soon to tell on whether they will pursue their statement to not play at the higher price. Camelot, the operating company, has not issued any other statements regarding the public's reaction, but we will keep you updated on any developments. Do you think the increase in prizes is good enough to pay twice the amount of money for the lottery tickets? Are you a British lottery player? Let us hear your thoughts on this issue.
