Things have been slower in the online gambling industry over the past few months, everybody is aware of it, but nobody has thought of it dramatically. However, current research is revealing that, in fact, people in the United Kingdom have dramatically decreased their online gambling rates, and there is a lot of speculation on what may be causing it.

The Association of British Bookmarkers (ABB) comissions the firm Deloitte to conduct research on the gambling field, and they have published data that shows that British customers spend about £2.3 billion every year on online gambling. People in the industry were happy to hear that their busines was highly profitable, and online gamblers felt like their community was growing and adding value to their gaming experience. On the other hand, a more recent study done by independent digital marketing agency, Greenlight, the results revealed that consumer online searches for online gambling related content has dropped dramatically, even to the point of calling this drop the lowest hit the industry has ever taken.

Greenlight is a very serious digital marketing agencies conducting business for big customers such as Santander and GHD. It is a company recognized globally for the high quality of the work they deliver and for their visionary approach to business. Their credibility is extremely high as they are considered one of the top entities in its sector, constantly publishing new data and industry reports.

The company has suggested that their recent findings might be a follow up on the government's announcement of the 15% tax on offshore online gambling operators, and the many warnings from sportsbook about losses resulting from the planned tax reform throughout next year. Their study profiled consumer search habits for "Google UK" in July 2013 in order to dig into online gaming interest. The data was then compared to the same analysis in previous months and it revealed that from June to July there has been a 34 percent drop in gaming related consumer searches. The total was 1.5 million for June, and only 995,830 in July.

Casinos was the most popular term, accounting for a 35 percent share of the searches.
