This article is the second part of our little project of testing out the top superstitious ideas about slot machines. Just to do a little recap, we've discovered that slot machines cannot be talked to into paying out, that there is no better way or rhythm to follow when you pull the handle, and that playing on those slot machines that do not penalize you for betting less than the maximum number of coins is in fact beneficial for you. In this issue we will discuss two more superstitious ideas about slot machines and we will tell you if there is any that you can trust to help you make money.

Myth #4: Slot Machines Have a Cycle to Payout

There is a belief that slot machines operate on a cyclical manner. This means that one cycle can serve thousands of spins, but once it reaches the end (meaning when it pays the big prize) the cycle will restart and repeat itself in the same order as last time. Some players think that one slot machine will pay again exactly after the same number of spins it took to hit the jackpot in the last cycle, or they try to predict different payout patterns taking different factors into consideration (number of customers, rush hour, etc.)

Myth or Fact? This is one of the biggest myths about slot machines. You should be careful because sometimes the average payout schedule for a slot machine is offered to you as predictive information of when it will pay again. The truth is that every spin of a slot machine is entirely independent of the last one, this is because of the random number generator being in charge of the results. A slot machine could hit the jackpot two spins in a row, or not for a year, the outcome is always random and the odds are always the same.

Myth #5: Smart People Don't Use Slot Machines

Some people believe that slot machines are not for smart people since they are purely based on chance and require no thinking skills.

Myth or Fact? Whereas it is true that slot machines are a game of chance, there is absolutely no foundation to the statement that smart people don't play slot games. Slot machine players come from all backgrounds, and studies show that most gamblers prefer slot machines because they find them relaxing. There is some strategy to be applied to slot machines, but the main reason people choose them is to have a good time.
